Ninho Weavers is based in a flat in Jagamara, right near Khandagiri. It’s Flat 201 on the second floor of the Shining building. It’s a bit of an unusual spot for a weaving business, being in an apartment and all, but it works for us. We have yarns and samples spread out on the dining table and boxes stacked against the walls. The view from the balcony is just the street below, which is always noisy with bikes. We spend our days coordinating with people who do the actual weaving in their own homes. It’s a lot of back and forth on the phone and checking the quality of the cloth when it arrives. Bhubaneswar is growing fast, and Jagamara is getting crowded, so parking is always a headache for anyone visiting. We don't have a big sign outside or anything. We just do our work quietly in the flat. Sometimes the neighbors complain about the noise of the boxes moving, but we try to keep it down. It’s just a few of us here, making sure the orders get packed and sent off to the right places. We aren't some big factory. We are just a small group trying to keep the weaving tradition going while living in the city. It’s a bit cramped, but we make it work somehow.
