Mysteria Handlooms and Handicrafts is located over in Bhubaneswar, right at Pratyusa Rajeshwari’s place. It’s in the Nayagarh Brajndra Kishore area, which is usually quite busy with people moving around. We aren't a big corporation with suit-wearing bosses. We are just a small group trying to get local handicrafts out to people who actually want them. Khorda is home for us, and being in Orissa, there is so much tradition to work with. Our office is more like a storage room filled with boxes and samples of handloom work. You might find some tea cups left on the table or stacks of paper that need filing. We spend a lot of time talking to the weavers and seeing what they have ready. Sometimes the colors don't match exactly what we thought, but that’s the way handmade things go. It’s real work. We don't have a big fancy showroom. If you want to see what we have, you just have to come by and look through the shelves. Bhubaneswar is a hot place, so the fans are always spinning. We try to keep the dust off the finished pieces, but it’s a constant battle. We just want to get these goods moved and make sure the people making them get paid. It’s a simple setup we have here, nothing more, nothing less.
