Jeevika Enhancement Services Foundation

Our foundation is located in Shree Vihar Colony, which is right near Chandi Chua Chhaka. We are at Naresh Chandra Panda’s place. It’s a decent area to work from and most people in the colony know us by now. Jeevika is about livelihoods, so we spend our days looking at ways people can earn a living or improve what they are already doing. It sounds a bit technical, but really it’s just about sitting down with people and seeing what skills they have. We aren't a big agency with tons of employees. It’s just a small group of us in a regular room. We have some plastic chairs for guests and a big table where we keep all our notes. Sometimes it gets a bit disorganized because we have so many different projects going on at once. There is always someone coming in with a question about a job or a small business idea. We try to give them some practical advice without making it sound too complicated. We don't use a lot of fancy words or business talk. We just speak plain English and try to be honest about what is possible. The office can get a bit hot in the afternoon, but we have a fan that helps. We aren't here to make a profit or anything; we just want to see the folks around Chandi Chua Chhaka doing a bit better for themselves. It’s a slow process but we are patient.
