Ekagra Foundation For Sports Excellence

Our foundation is run out of a place at Plot No. 734/1448, which is where Kanakalata Haiburu is based. It’s not a fancy stadium or a high-end gym, just a regular spot where we can organize our thoughts and our equipment. We are all about sports excellence, but we take a very practical approach to it. We don't have those shiny brochures you see from big city clubs. Instead, we have a lot of passion for getting kids out on the field and helping them realize they can actually be good at something. Most of our time is spent looking for gear like footballs, cricket bats, or running shoes that we can get to the youngsters who can't afford them. We also try to find coaches who are willing to give some of their time for free. It’s a bit of a scramble sometimes, and our office is usually cluttered with sports bags and paperwork. We think that sports can really change a kid’s life, giving them something to focus on besides just sitting around or getting into trouble. It’s hard to find the funding, and sometimes we feel like we are just scraping by, but then you see a kid win a race or make a great play, and it feels like the effort was worth it. We’re just a small team trying to make sports accessible to everyone in this neighborhood.
