At Bijaya Marine Products, our whole day revolves around what’s coming in from the water. We are based in Atharnala Patna, Gopinathpur, which is a good spot for this kind of work. The smell of the catch is just part of the air here, and you get used to it pretty fast. We spend most of our mornings checking the quality and sorting things out for the buyers. It’s messy work, often wet and cold, but it has to be done right if we want to keep things moving. Our office is just a small space where we track the weights and the payments. There isn't much furniture, just the essentials and some old calendars on the wall. We have a few regular guys who handle the heavy lifting and the packing. The main thing is getting everything iced down and ready before the heat of the day really kicks in. We don't spend much time on fancy talk; we just focus on the crates and the transport schedules. If the catch is good, we are busy until late. If it’s a slow day, we spend the time cleaning the equipment and fixing the nets or the bins. It’s a basic way to make a living, but it’s what we know. The local people know where to find us when they need seafood in bulk.
