We are over here in Jhimani, right by Rangiagarh. If you know the area, you know it gets pretty dusty with all the work going on. Surendra Kumar Pradhan has his name on the plot, number 666/1009, which is our home base. It is not some fancy glass building like the ones in the big cities. Instead, it’s just a regular place for our tools and folders. Most days find us out on sites, looking at roads or pipes or whatever project is on the list. Blueprints and tea cups are usually scattered across the desks. Sometimes the fans make a bit of a clicking noise, but we don't mind. We have been part of this community for a while now. People around here know us by face. Spending time on the internet or making things look pretty for a website isn't our priority. We just focus on the infrastructure projects that need finishing. Even when the monsoon rains hit hard and the ground gets muddy, we manage to keep moving. Our small crew is efficient because everyone knows their job. There isn't a corporate ladder here. Just a few of us make sure the work gets done right the first time. Life in Jhimani is quiet, but we stay busy enough to keep the trucks moving and the lights on. It is a straightforward way to earn a living in this part of the country.
