We are located out in Khurda, Orissa. It’s a bit of a distance from the main city buzz, which actually suits the way we work at Vedanta Aluminium Ltd. just fine. Our office is a straightforward place where the focus is on the metal and the logistics of getting it moved. We don't spend money on fancy decorations or expensive furniture because that’s not what we are about. Instead, we have a few desks, some filing cabinets, and a lot of coffee being made throughout the day. The Khurda district is a practical place to be based. We see the trucks coming and going, and we deal with the paperwork that keeps everything legal and organized. The people working here have been around the aluminium industry for quite some time. We know the rhythms of the work—when things are going to be busy and when we can catch a breath. There’s no big corporate manual telling us how to act. We just treat each other with respect and get through the checklist. Sometimes the electricity goes out or the internet is slow, but we just find a way around it. That’s how things go in this part of India. We are just a local team doing our part to keep the supply chain moving. It’s not always pretty, and it’s definitely not a luxury job, but it’s what we do and we’ve gotten pretty good at it over the years.
