Srimadsarathi Construction Pvt.Ltd, Bhubaneswar

Our office is over at the Upasana Working Women's Hostel building here in Bhubaneswar. It’s a bit of an unusual spot for a construction company to be, but it works for us for now. Being in Orissa means the weather is either very hot or very rainy most of the time, so we are always checking the forecast before heading out to a site. The space we have is simple. We’ve got some metal desks, a lot of blueprints rolled up in the corners, and usually a few maps taped to the walls with old tape. It’s not the kind of place with shiny floors or big glass windows. We are mostly focused on the projects we have going on around the city. Often, we are out in the field more than we are in the office. If you come by, you might find only one person here answering the phone while the rest of us are out looking at foundations. There’s always a lot of tea drinking happening when we have meetings with the crew. It’s just how we do things here. The traffic in this part of town can be a real mess in the evenings, so we try to get things done early in the morning. We just take it day by day and try to keep the paperwork from piling up too high on our desks. It is a busy life but it keeps us going.
