Basudev Stones

Basudev Stones is tucked away at Plot No. Vim-267 in Sailashree Vihar. We are over in the C.S. Pur area, which has changed a lot since we first set up here. Back then, there weren't as many buildings around. Now, it is crowded, but we are still in the same spot. We deal with all kinds of stones. Mostly it is about having enough variety so that someone finds what they need for a bathroom or a patio. We don't use big words to describe the rocks. It is just stone. Some is hard, some is softer, some has lots of veins running through it. We keep everything stacked in the yard. It can be a bit of a maze if you don't know where things are kept. My hands are usually covered in stone dust by noon. That is just how it goes. We don't have a receptionist. If you come by, you’ll find one of us near the stacks or in the small shed we use as an office. We take notes on scraps of paper and try to keep the deliveries on schedule. It’s a lot of coordination with the drivers. Sometimes the slabs arrive late, or the weather stops us from loading. We just take it as it comes. It is a quiet life for the most part, just moving heavy things and talking to the neighbors who stop by for a chat. We’ve seen this neighborhood grow up around us.
