We sit right in Chuna Chowk, in Ward Number 11. Most people just look for the Shyam Mandir and they find us easily enough. It’s an old part of town and we’ve been part of it for a long time. We trade in various goods, mostly things that local folks and other small shops need. The building is old, with high ceilings and heavy wooden doors. It feels solid. We don't have any fancy displays or neon signs. Just a board with the name on it. Inside, it smells like old paper and whatever we happen to be stocking that week. I took over from my father and he took it from his. It’s a family thing. We know almost everyone who walks through the door by name. We sit on benches and talk while we handle the bills. It’s not a fast-paced environment. We like to take the time to get things right. Sometimes the supply trucks are late because of the narrow streets in the Chowk, but everyone understands. We just work with what we have. There’s a lot of history in these walls. We’ve seen the market change over the decades, but the way we do business hasn't changed much. We just provide what’s needed and keep honest accounts. That’s enough for us. The daily routine keeps us grounded. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it works for our regular customers and us.
