Patel Mashroom

Start with the location. It's on Petlad Road. Near Zalak Restaurant. Patel Mashroom is just what we do here at Chaitanya. It started small. Mostly just growing and selling mushrooms to people nearby. We spend a lot of time in the sheds making sure things stay damp and cool. It’s a bit of a messy job, honestly. Dirt under the fingernails is just part of it. Most days involve checking the bags and making sure the temperature is right. It’s not fancy. If you come by Petlad Road, you’ll see us right there. People stop in after eating at Zalak sometimes. We don't have a big front office or anything. It's just the workspace and where we keep the produce. Some days are busier than others when the harvest is ready. It's a lot of manual work, lifting crates and packing them up. We try to keep things moving so nothing sits around too long. My family has been around this area for a while. Dealing with mushrooms is different from other crops because they grow so fast. You can almost see them change by the hour. We just keep our heads down and do the work. It's a simple life out here near the restaurant. Nothing too complicated about it. We just grow them and sell them. It is what it is, just a daily job on the road to the restaurant.
