We operate out of B-38 in the Shiv Pujan Duplex over in Chandkheda. It’s a bit of a different feel being in a duplex rather than a high-rise office building in Ahmedabad. It’s quieter here, which helps when you need to concentrate on tax laws and complicated ledgers. Kanti Lal started this place and we’ve kept it going with a small, dedicated group. The office is basically filled with rows of cabinets and desks. We spend a lot of time on the phone or responding to emails. Ahmedabad is a fast-growing city, but Chandkheda feels a bit more grounded. We handle the usual stuff—GST, income tax, and general bookkeeping. It’s not a flashy environment. We have our tea breaks and we talk about the local news while we work. People usually just drop by with their bags of receipts and we try to make sense of it all. Sometimes it feels like we are drowning in paperwork, but that’s the life of an accountant. We’ve grown accustomed to the rhythm of the neighborhood. It’s a honest day’s work for us. We don’t use fancy software for everything; a lot of it is just careful manual checking. We’ve been at this address for quite a bit now, and it’s become a second home to most of us working here. The front porch sometimes gets cluttered with deliveries, but inside we try to keep things in order for our daily tasks.
