Kaaryans Technical Ceramics

Our place is out on the Nadiad-Dakor Road in Salun. It’s a bit outside the main town, so it’s quieter here. Kaaryans Technical Ceramics is where we do our work. It’s not like regular pottery; technical ceramics are a different thing altogether. They’re used for industrial machines and things like that. The workshop has some equipment that hums all day long. It’s usually a bit hot near the kilns where the firing happens. We wear heavy clothes to stay safe while we work. Salun is a quiet enough place, which helps when you need to focus on getting the measurements exactly right. The floors are concrete and we try to keep them swept, but there's always some grit around. We aren't a huge factory. It's a small shop with a few people who have been doing this for years. We know all the quirks of our machines. Sometimes a batch doesn't come out right and we have to start over from scratch. That’s just part of the process of working with clay and heat. We eat lunch together in a small room off to the side. It’s honest work and we like being out here away from the city traffic. The road outside can get a bit muddy during the monsoon, making it hard for the delivery vans to get in. We usually have to go out and help them. It’s a small price to pay for having our own space here.
