Keshavlal Mangubhai & Co is tucked away behind Globe Cinema in Nadiad. If you are a local, you know exactly where that is. The cinema has been there forever, and we’ve been right behind it for a long time too. The street is quite narrow and can get very crowded when a movie lets out and everyone pours onto the road. People are always walking by, and sometimes they pop their heads in just to see what’s going on inside. The building has that old Nadiad feel to it, with thick walls and high ceilings that keep it a bit cooler than the street outside. We deal with the daily routine of orders and supplies. It’s not a high-tech operation at all. We still use old ledgers alongside the computer because that’s just how we like to do things here. There’s a lot of history in these walls, and you can almost smell the old paper and the dust. We know most of the people who walk past our door by their first name. It’s the kind of place where business happens over a cup of tea and a long chat about family. We don’t rush things much. The 387001 area is our home, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years. Even though things outside are faster now, inside here, it feels pretty much the same as it always did. We close up once the evening shows start getting busy.
