Chakan is a massive place. Out here at Plot No. E 4 on the Pune Nashik Road, the scale of everything is just big. Sany Heavy Industry India Pvt. Ltd. sits right in the middle of the Chakan Industrial Area. It’s a lot of concrete and steel. We are near Village Kuruli, and the local trucks are always rumbling past. The air smells like oil and hot metal most of the time. Inside the facility, it's loud. We have people in helmets walking around with clipboards. It’s a long way from the main city of Pune, so most of us commute or stay nearby in the Taluka. The work is mostly about moving big parts and making sure the assembly lines don't stop. It’s not a desk job for most people here. We see a lot of heavy machinery every single day. The sun gets really strong over the open yards. We have a canteen where everyone grabs a quick bite. It’s a practical environment. No one wears suits unless there’s a specific reason. We focus on the machines and the schedules. There is a lot of dirt on the floor by the end of the shift. We just clean it up and start again the next day. It’s hard work, but it’s what happens in a place like this. We just get on with it and try to stay on schedule.
