Pankaj Palace

Pankaj Palace is situated on Nehru Hospital Road. It’s a very busy stretch of road because of all the people going to and from the hospital. You can hear ambulances and horns pretty much every hour of the day. The building has been here for a while and shows its age in a few spots. We’re not a big hotel or anything, just a place where people stay or visit when they have business in this area. The rooms are basic. We spend a lot of time cleaning and changing sheets. The front desk is usually manned by one of us just watching the street. It’s a simple operation. We don’t have fancy carpets or anything like that. We just focus on keeping things tidy and making sure the water is running. Sometimes the street noise makes it hard to sleep, but that’s the trade-off for being so close to everything. We see a lot of different people coming through, many of them looking tired from the hospital visit. We try to be quiet and just let them go about their day. There isn’t much to say about the decor; it’s just functional and practical for the location. We have a small tea stall nearby where we go when things get slow. It’s a modest place on a very active road. We just keep the doors open and do our daily chores to keep the place going. It's a lot of work but we've gotten used to the pace.
