We are located at 67, Juna Ram Mandir. Being near the old temple means we hear the bells and the prayers throughout the day, which is a nice backdrop to the work we do. This isn’t a modern office building with glass walls. It’s an older structure that fits in with the rest of the neighborhood. Inside, the main thing you’ll notice is the sound. The weaving process is never silent. There is a constant clatter of the looms and the movement of the threads being pulled tight. Our space is filled with wooden frames and bright colors from the different yarns we use. Most of the people working here have grown up around weaving, so it’s second nature to them. We don’t have a big marketing department or anyone in suits. It’s just us, the weavers, and a couple of people who handle the paperwork in the back corner. The lighting is just enough to see the patterns clearly. Sometimes we run out of space because of all the finished goods waiting to be sent out, so we have to stack things carefully along the walls. It’s a very hands-on environment. We deal with the materials directly every hour of the day. When someone comes to visit, they usually find us covered in a bit of lint or carrying heavy bundles. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know and what we’ve always done at Juna Ram Mandir. We just keep going.
