Tata Hitachi

You can find us in the village of Rupnarayanpur, which is near Jakpur in the Paschim Midnapur district. We work with the big yellow machines that Tata Hitachi makes. Our yard is pretty large because those excavators and diggers take up a lot of space. It is a dusty environment with a lot of heavy iron and the smell of grease and diesel fuel everywhere. We do some servicing and we keep a lot of spare parts on the shelves for when the machines in the area need a fix. The mechanics here usually have dirty hands and overalls, but they know exactly how to handle these big engines. It gets very hot in the summer out here in Midnapur, but the work doesn't stop because the construction projects nearby need their equipment running. We are not right in the middle of a city, so it’s a bit of a drive to get to us, but the people who use these machines know exactly where we are located. We spend a lot of time talking to the operators and the owners about how the machines are holding up. It’s a practical business and we don't spend much time on fancy office work. We just make sure the parts are available and the repairs get done so the work out in the fields and on the roads can keep moving along. It’s a solid job and we like the machines.
