Somenath Ghosh & Co. is located over in Bhawanipur, which is part of West Midnapore. It’s been our base for a long time now. We aren't a huge corporation or anything like that, just a local business trying to keep things moving. We handle a lot of different things depending on what people in the area need. Most days are spent dealing with orders and talking to people who come by the yard. It can get pretty hectic when the weather is good and everyone is trying to get their projects finished. The office isn't much to look at, just some old files and a lot of dust from the road. We know most of the people around here by name because we’ve lived in Midnapore our whole lives. My father started things off and we just kept going with it. It’s not always easy keeping up with the paperwork, and sometimes we fall behind on the small stuff like filing receipts, but the main work always gets done. We don't spend money on fancy signs or advertising because everyone knows where the Ghosh place is in Bhawanipur. We just show up every morning, open the gates, and see what the day brings. It’s a lot of talking on the phone and checking the yard. Sometimes the trucks are late or the workers take a long lunch, and we have to wait around, but that is just part of the business. We take it as it comes and try to be fair with everyone who stops by. It is just us.
