Government Veterinary Hospital

Being right on the Shahpur Indore Highway means we hear the sound of trucks and heavy traffic all day and night. This government veterinary hospital is easy to spot if you are driving through Shahpur, though most of our visitors come from the nearby villages rather than the highway itself. We have a fairly large open area out front where people can park their carts or tie up their livestock while they come inside to find someone. The building is made of sturdy concrete and has that specific look that all government offices seem to have. Inside, the rooms are pretty basic with metal tables and a few cabinets for supplies. It can get quite loud with the highway noise, so you sometimes have to raise your voice to be heard over the engines. We see a lot of different animals, and the day usually starts early when the sun is still low. There is a lot of dust that comes off the road and settles on the windowsills, so we are always wiping things down. It is not a place for luxury, just a spot where the local people can bring their animals when something is wrong. We have a small staff and we all know our roles pretty well by now. The Indore Highway keeps on moving outside, but inside we just focus on the animals in front of us. It is a simple routine that has not changed much in years.
