Venkata Sai Transport

Our small transport business is run right out of house 1-66 in Thummalapalli Village. We have been here for a long time, helping people move their goods around Penuballi Mandal. It’s mostly about driving the trucks and making sure the loads are tied down tight so nothing falls off on the bumpy roads. We have a couple of vehicles parked in the lot, and they usually have some mud on them from the local tracks. My brother handles most of the phone calls while I check the engines and the tire pressure. We carry all sorts of things, from bags of grain to building materials that people need for their houses. The weather gets really hot here, so the cabin of the truck can feel like an oven sometimes. We know these roads very well, including all the spots where the pavement is thin. Sometimes we have to stay up late to finish a delivery or get up before the sun to beat the traffic. It isn’t a glamorous job and there is always grease under my fingernails from fixing a leak or changing a belt. We keep a notebook to track the kilometers, but half the time we just remember the routes by heart. It’s a lot of sitting and driving, watching the fields go by. We just try to get the items from one place to the next without too much trouble along the way.
