Laxmi Soaps & Detergents

If you walk around the Sri Circle area in Gopalapuram Village, you will find us at D. No. 6-5-68. The smell of soap is usually the first thing you notice before you even see the sign for Laxmi Soaps & Detergents. We are right here in the Khammam Urban Mandal, and we’ve been operating from this building for quite some time. It is a practical space, mostly taken up by the supplies and the mixing areas. We don’t have a fancy showroom or anything like that. The floors are concrete and there’s usually a bit of dust from the packing area, but we keep the equipment clean. Most of us living nearby in Khammam Dist. walk or take a cycle to get here in the morning. The 507002 area is where we grew up, so we know most of the people who stop by the gate. We spend the day weighing out ingredients and making sure the batches are moving along. It gets pretty loud when the machines are running, so we have to shout a bit to hear each other over the hum. We keep a small kettle in the corner for breaks. It isn't a high-tech factory, just a solid local setup where we put in the hours and go home tired. We handle the loading ourselves most days, stacking the crates and getting them ready for the local shops. It’s honest work that keeps us busy from dawn till dusk.
