Devamani Travels

Operating out of H. No. 9-29 in Chinagopathi Village, I spend the majority of my time behind the wheel. Being located in Konijerla Mandal, there is always someone who needs a ride to the next town or the city. The vehicle gets dusty really fast on these local roads, so I am forever wiping down the seats or checking under the hood to make sure the oil is fine. This isn't a glamorous travel business with a huge fleet of shiny new buses. It is just me and the car, making sure people get where they need to go safely. I usually wake up quite early, often before the sun is even up, to make sure everything is running right for the first trip. Some days I am driving for long hours without much of a break, and other days I am just sitting around waiting for the phone to ring. The village is small, so news travels fast if you are available for work. I don't use any fancy booking systems, just a simple notebook to keep track of the names and times. Sometimes the roads are in bad shape, and a short trip takes much longer than we expected, but that is just part of the job here. You see a lot of the countryside when you drive for a living. It is honest work, and it keeps me busy from morning until night.
