Jai Shree Balaji Spinning Mill

We’ve been operating out of the Hans Cotton Compound for quite some time now. It’s a busy place with a lot of trucks coming and going all day long. If you walk into our unit, the first thing you notice is the smell of raw cotton and the sound of the spinning machines humming. It’s pretty loud, so we usually have to shout a bit to hear each other. We spend most of our hours checking the spindles and making sure the yarn is coming out right. It’s not a glamorous job. There’s white fluff everywhere, on our clothes and in our hair by the end of the shift. We just get on with it though. The compound itself is an old industrial spot, and our space is filled with rows of machinery that have been running for years. Sometimes a belt snaps or a motor gets stuck, and we have to stop everything to fix it. We don't have a fancy office or a marketing person. It’s just us and the machines. We take the cotton, spin it into yarn, and pack it up into big bags. When the weather gets humid, the fibers act differently, so we have to adjust things. It’s a lot of standing and moving around the floor. We drink our tea in the small gap between the machines and the loading area. It’s honest work, and we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the mill.
