Ayan Agate Exports

Our workshop is in Bandra Buraje, which is in District Anand. If you’re looking for us, we are near the Kothi Building. It’s an old part of the area. We work with agate stones. It’s a traditional business around here. The stones come in from the mines and we spend all day sorting, cutting, and polishing them. It’s very dusty and the machines make a lot of noise. Your hands get rough from the water and the stone dust. We aren't a big factory with robots. It’s all done by people sitting on the floor or at small benches. We export the stones to different places, but the heart of the work is right here in Anand. We’ve been doing this for generations in my family. Sometimes the quality of the raw stone isn't great, and we have to discard a lot of it. That’s just part of the risk. The sun gets really hot in the yard, so we try to get the heavy work done before noon. We pack the finished pieces into wooden crates very carefully. It’s not a glamorous job. It’s loud and dirty, and the office is just a corner of the workshop with a simple desk. But we take pride in the stones we produce.
