Ashapuri Kirana Store

Our little shop is over at Shop No. 2591 in Limbasi. We are pretty close to the State Bank of India, so we get people coming in after they finish their banking business. It is a quiet enough area most of the time, except for when the sun is really beating down and everyone is looking for something cold or just some basic supplies for dinner. I spend most of my day sitting behind the counter or climbing up the small ladder to reach the top shelves where we keep the less common items. The building is older, and the paint is peeling a bit near the bottom of the door, but it serves us well. We keep the lentils, rice, and oils in the back area. Sometimes the delivery guy leaves the crates right in the way and I have to move them myself. It is hard work on the back, but that is the life of running a kirana store. My kids sometimes come by after school and help with the smaller packets of spices. We do not have any big signs or anything, just the name Ashapuri Kirana Store above the entrance. Most people know us by now anyway. We just keep going, day after day, making sure we have enough tea leaves and matches for everyone. It is a simple life here in Limbasi, just keeping the shop open and waiting for the next customer.
