Aruna Enginerring Works

Aruna Enginerring Works is tucked away near the railway underpass, inside where Vijay Sanitary is located on Pij Road. It’s a bit of a strange spot because you have to go inside another place to find us, but we’ve been here long enough that people manage. The sound of the trains passing overhead is something you just get used to after the first week. The walls shake a little, but we keep on working with the metal. We do mostly engineering jobs, the kind where you’re always measuring things and using lathes. It’s not a clean environment by any means. There’s a smell of burnt metal and cooling oil that stays in your clothes even after you wash them. Our lights are a bit dim in the corners, so we use portable lamps when we need to see the fine details on a part. We don't have a front desk or a receptionist. If someone wants to talk to us, they just walk into the workshop and shout over the noise. It’s a practical way of doing things. Sometimes we have to wait for parts to arrive from the main road, which can be slow because of the traffic near the underpass. We just take it as it comes. It’s a small operation with just a few of us, and we don't try to make it look like something it's not. It's just honest engineering work.
