Maa Ratneswari Rice Mill

Our mill is located in the village of Kairasi, right in the Khallikote tehsil. We are very close to the railway station, so we hear the trains whistling and rattling by all day and night. It’s a good spot because it makes it easier for people to find us. The mill itself is a big structure that has seen a lot of use over the years. Inside, it’s a mix of heavy machinery, piles of paddy, and the smell of raw rice. We have a small crew of workers who handle the machines and the bagging. It is physical work and everyone is usually covered in a bit of dust by the time the shift ends. We don't have any fancy signs or a polished lobby. Most people just walk straight into the work area to talk to us. We handle the rice for the local farmers and help get it ready for transport. The yard outside is often full of tractors or carts bringing in the harvest. We just take it as it comes, working through the piles until the job is done. It can be a bit chaotic during the peak season, but we have a system that works for us. We are just a local mill doing a job that needs doing in this part of the country. We don't try to be anything more than that. We’ve seen many seasons come and go, and the rice keeps coming in. It is just part of the life here near the tracks.
