Our place is out in Khadkale, in the Satara district. It's a village area, so everyone knows everyone else. We started this business to help out with things the local people need. We don't have a big fancy office with glass doors. It’s more of a practical space. We handle a variety of supplies and bits of hardware. Life moves a bit slower here than in the big cities. We open the doors early because the farmers are up anyway. Sometimes we sit outside and talk to the neighbors before the day really starts. Satara is a nice place to live and work. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just walk in or send word with someone else. We keep our records in a big register on the main desk. It gets a bit dusty because of the road nearby. We try to keep what people ask for in stock. If we don't have it, we try to get it from the town next time we go. It’s a family-run thing, mostly. We don't have employees in uniforms. We just wear what we’d wear any other day. It’s about being part of the community here in Vpo Khadkale. We’ve been here for years and it's just home now. We usually close up when the street lights come on, or whenever the last person leaves. There isn't much to it besides that.
