Jivan Jyot Primary School

Jivan Jyot is a primary school located in Keshod, which is in the Junagadh district. We are right in the heart of the town. The school isn't very big, but it’s enough for the local kids who live nearby. We open up early to get things ready before the children arrive. It’s a primary setup, so we have the younger ones learning their first lessons. The classrooms are basic, with wooden desks and blackboards. We don’t go in for anything too modern or complicated. It’s about teaching them to read, write, and do their sums. The noise level can get pretty high during the breaks when they all run out to the small open space we have. Keshod is a busy place, but once you are inside the school gates, it feels like its own little world. We have a few staff members who have been here for years. They know the families around Junagadh quite well. Sometimes parents stop by to talk about how their kids are doing. It’s all very informal. We don’t have a big office or anything like that. Just a simple desk for the head of the school. In the monsoon, we have to watch out for leaks, but we fix them as they come. It’s just a normal, everyday school helping the local children get started. We have our routines and we stick to them. It's not a complicated life here in Keshod. We just make sure the kids have what they need to learn their lessons before they head home.
