Sumitomo Mitusai Construction Ltd. is based at Haladidiha in the Kapalaswar area of Kendrapara. This is the permanent address associated with Akshaya Ku Mohanty’s family, so it feels more like a home-base than a cold office. In this part of Odisha, things are pretty traditional. We work on construction projects and our days are filled with the usual stuff—checking materials, talking to laborers, and making sure the plans are being followed. The office isn't anything special to look at, just a place where we keep our tools and papers. It gets pretty humid here, so we try to do the heavy lifting early in the morning. We’ve got a small group of people working here, and most of us have known each other a long time. There’s no corporate ladder to climb; we just all pitch in to get the job done. Sometimes we have to travel out to remote sites, which takes up a lot of the day. When we’re back at the office in Haladidiha, it’s mostly about catching up on the boring paperwork that comes with construction. We don’t use big words or try to impress anyone.
