Orissa Primary Education Authority,Opepa(Civil Section)

We work out of the Kalashpur area, near Bhuinpur in the Kendrapara district. The civil section of the Orissa Primary Education Authority, or OPEPA as most people call it, is based here. Our main job is looking after the physical side of the schools in our region. This means we spend our days checking on building repairs, making sure there are enough classrooms, and looking at plans for new school facilities. It’s a lot of administrative work mixed with site visits to remote villages. The office is a simple place, filled with stacks of files and blueprints for various school projects. We don't have a lot of fancy equipment, just the basics needed to keep the records straight. Mr. Bijoy Kumar Bal’s family has been in this area for a long time, and we feel a strong connection to the local community. It’s not a corporate job; it’s more about serving the public and making sure the kids have a decent place to learn. Sometimes the paperwork gets overwhelming, and the roads out to the schools can be rough, but we keep at it. We don’t do any advertising because everyone knows who we are and what we do. It’s just about getting the repairs done and the buildings safe. We take it one day at a time, dealing with the budget and the contractors as best we can. It’s honest work that needs to be done for the kids.
