Nana Brick

We’ve been running Nana Brick out here in Village Chatra for a good while now. It’s located in Tehsil Derabis, not too far from the Government Polytechnic Kendrapara. Most folks around here know the spot because of the smoke from the kilns. Making bricks is just what we do every day. It’s a lot of manual labor, digging up the earth and setting things to dry under the sun. Sometimes the weather doesn't play nice and we have to wait for the rain to stop so the bricks can dry properly. We don't have a big office or anything like that, just the yard and the kilns. You’ll usually see a few of us moving stacks around or loading up a tractor that someone brought by. It gets pretty dusty, especially when the wind picks up across the fields. We just focus on getting the firing right so the bricks don't crumble. People from the nearby villages come by when they are putting up a new wall or fixing a goat shed. It’s a basic business. We stay busy enough. There isn’t much to say other than we are here most days from dawn. If you’re coming from Kendrapara, just look for the polytechnic and we are right in that area. It's a local operation, nothing more to it than that. We appreciate the folks who choose us over the bigger industrial guys from further away.
