Fire & Safety Officer

This is Saumya Ranjan Parida's place over in Kendrapara. We are located in Darabachha, which is part of the Marsaghai area in Orissa. Dealing with fire and safety is what occupies most of the time here. It’s not a big corporate office or anything like that. It’s more of a local operation run right from the community. We spend a lot of time checking things and making sure rules are followed, mostly because it’s necessary for everyone’s peace of mind. It’s a lot of walking around and looking at equipment. Sometimes the weather makes it hard to get around the district, but we try to stay on top of the schedule. Being a fire and safety officer means you have to be ready for whatever comes up. It’s practical work. No big speeches or fancy brochures here, just the day-to-day tasks of keeping things safe. We've been in Darabachha for a good bit now. Most folks in the neighborhood stop by if they have a question about a fire extinguisher or some paperwork. It's just a regular office doing regular, important work for the local area.
