Benhur Catering Service is based right here in Angamali. We have been doing this for a long time, mostly because people around here always have events and they need someone to handle the kitchen. Cooking for a crowd is hard work. It usually starts very early in the morning, sometimes before the sun is even up, so the food is ready when it needs to be for the lunch service. We deal with big pots, lots of vegetables, and the constant heat of the heavy stoves. Angamali is a place where people appreciate simple food that tastes like home. We don't try to make things look like they belong in a fancy magazine. We just want the plates to be full and the guests to be happy with what they ate. Our team is a mix of people who have been cooking their whole lives and they know exactly how much salt or spice to add. The kitchen is always noisy with the sound of chopping and the hiss of the gas burners. When we aren't cooking, we are cleaning the equipment or planning for the next big wedding or gathering. It is a lot of standing on your feet and making sure the spice levels are just right for the local palate. We take our equipment to different spots around town depending on where the party is being held. It is honest work and it keeps us very tired but satisfied at the end of the day. We just enjoy seeing people eat.
