About Kisan Krishi Sewa – Agriculture & Farming in Kaushambi
Out here in Kaushambi, things move a bit differently. We run this small shop to help the folks who are growing things or keeping a garden. We sell seeds, some basic tools, and things like that. The smell of the shop is mostly earth and sacks of fertilizer, which I’ve grown to like over the years. We aren't a big store where everything is behind glass. You can come in, touch the shovels, and check the weight of the bags yourself. We spend a lot of time talking to people about what they are planting this season. If the rain is late, we hear about it. If the bugs are eating the crops, we hear about that too. We try to keep what people actually use, not just the expensive stuff you see in magazines. The shop door stays open most of the day to let the air in. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except when the delivery truck comes and we have to move all the heavy sacks inside. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know we are here in Kaushambi when they need something for their land. We keep a ledger on the desk and write everything down by hand. It works for us and it has worked for a long time now. My boots are always a bit muddy but that is just part of being in this kind of business every day.
