We are situated at 151/2, on the Pondy-Cuddalore Main Road in Kattukuppam. It’s right there in Puducherry, and the coastal air definitely has an effect on the machinery over time. Packaging India Pvt. Ltd. has been operating from this spot for a while now. The road outside is always busy with people traveling between Pondy and Cuddalore. Inside the gates, it’s a different world. It’s mostly the hum of the packing lines and the smell of plastic and paper. We have a lot of people working shifts here, so the place never really stays quiet for long. It’s a practical setup. We have the warehouse area where everything is stacked high and the loading bays where the trucks back in. It gets very hot in the afternoons, and the fans don’t always do enough, but we keep moving. We aren't the kind of company that has a lot of meetings about visions. We just look at the orders for the day and get the lines moving. Sometimes a machine breaks down and everyone has to scramble to get it back up, which is just part of the routine. We eat our lunch together in the small break room. It’s a noisy, busy place, and there’s always a layer of dust on the windows from the main road. We just focus on the task and try to get the shipments out by the end of the day. It’s hard work but it keeps us all going.
