We are situated right on the Trichy Thanjavur Main Road in Balaji Nagar, Kattu. Being on such a busy highway means there is never a quiet moment. We see all kinds of vehicles passing by, from local buses to big long-haul trucks. Our place is easy to spot because of all the activity out front. We handle various kinds of automobile work and the yard is usually filled with vehicles in different states of repair. It gets very dusty with all the traffic kicking up dirt from the roadside, so everything has a bit of a brown tint to it. The sun can be quite brutal out here on the open road, so we try to do the heaviest work under the shade of the roof. We have a small crew of mechanics who have been with us for a long time. They know their way around engines and don't mind getting their hands greasy. There’s a small tea stall next door that does a brisk business with our customers while they wait. We don't have any fancy waiting rooms with TV or coffee machines. People usually just sit on the bench outside and watch the traffic go by. It’s a rough and ready kind of place, focused on getting the job done so people can get back on their journey. The paperwork is handled in a small cabin at the back where we keep our records in stacks of registers. We close up once the sun goes down and the traffic starts to thin out for the night.
