Arumugam Cement Centre

Our place is on Chittore Road, right at number 45 in Gandhi Nagar. It’s a busy road so there’s always noise from the traffic passing by. We have been running the cement center here for a long time. Mostly it is just about managing the deliveries and making sure the warehouse stays dry. Cement is heavy and messy, so our clothes usually have that gray dust on them by noon. We don’t have a big corporate team, just a few of us who handle the loading and the paperwork. If you walk past the shop, you’ll see the stacks of bags piled up high. We try to keep things organized but it gets cluttered when a big shipment arrives from the factory. People around Gandhi Nagar know us by name, which is nice. We don't use any fancy systems, just a ledger and some common sense. Sometimes the trucks get delayed on the highway, and we have to explain that to the customers. It happens. We just try to get the work done and go home. The shop isn't much to look at, just a practical space for a practical business. We’ve seen the area change quite a bit over the years. New buildings going up everywhere. We just stay here on Chittore Road and keep doing what we do. It’s a decent living and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down.
