In Jhabua, things move at their own pace. Our medical store is right here in the Ho area. It’s a simple place, really. We don't have any of those bright flashing signs or anything like that. Just the name on the front and some glass windows that we try to keep clean. The shelves are made of wood and we’ve had them for years. Most of the people who come in are neighbors or people we see at the market every week. We spend a lot of time just talking about the weather or how the crops are doing while we look for what they need. Jhabua is a nice place to live and work. It isn't too loud, and you know who you are dealing with. Sometimes we run out of things and have to wait for the truck to come in from the bigger city. We just tell people to come back in a couple of days. They don't mind much. We open up when the sun starts getting bright and we stay until it starts to get dark. There is a lot of paper shuffling involved in this job, more than you would think. We keep our records in big binders. It might look a bit messy to an outsider, but we know exactly where everything is. It's just a regular part of life here in Jhabua for us and we enjoy the daily routine.
