The Regent

The Regent is located right at Buddh Chauk in Katihar. If you are familiar with this part of Bihar, you know it is a very busy intersection. We have been here for many years, and the building shows its age a bit, but we like it that way. It has a lot of history. Our rooms are basic and we don't have any of those fancy modern gadgets you see in big city hotels. We have some old wooden chairs in the lobby that are actually very comfortable for sitting and watching the traffic go by. The noise from the Chauk is constant, but you get used to it after a while. Most of the people who work here are locals from Katihar who have been with us since the start. We serve simple meals and plenty of hot tea throughout the day. The plumbing can be a bit tricky sometimes, and we often have to call the local repairman to come take a look. We don't have a big website or an online booking system. People usually just show up or call us on the phone. It’s a place where travelers can find a bed and a bit of rest. We know all the other shop owners around the Chauk, so it feels like a real community. We aren't trying to be something we're not. We just provide a straightforward place to stay.
