SAAMI UNITED NIDHI LIMITED

Our office for SAAMI UNITED NIDHI LIMITED is over in Colony No 1 in Katihar. We are set up at Kalicharan Verma’s place. Katihar can be a busy, dusty town, especially near the railway tracks, but our colony is tucked away a bit. The address is 854105 if you are looking it up on a map, but most locals just ask for Kalicharan. We have a small sign, but it’s faded a little from the sun. Inside, it’s mostly just us sitting around a big table with some ledger books and a calculator. We don’t have air conditioning, so we keep the windows open to catch whatever breeze comes through. Sometimes the neighborhood kids play cricket right outside the door, and we have to tell them to be careful of the glass. We see a lot of the same people every month when they come to deposit their savings. It’s a friendly atmosphere, and we usually spend more time talking about the local news than the actual money. We handle everything by hand because it feels more reliable that way. The floor is made of plain cement and we sweep it out every morning before we start. It’s not a fancy place, but it’s honest work and we’ve been here for a while now. Most people find us because a friend or a relative told them we were easy to talk to. That’s enough for us.
