Aa Associates

Our office on Kathua Road is right near the District Hospital in Jammu. You can always hear the sirens and the sound of people talking outside. Aa Associates is a small space where we spend most of our daylight hours. The walls are painted an off-white color that has faded over the years. We have a few desks pushed together and some filing cabinets that don’t always close perfectly. Being so close to the hospital means there is always movement on the street. People are constantly walking back and forth. We drink a lot of water because it gets very hot in Jammu during the summer. The paperwork piles up on the desks, and we spend a lot of time sorting through folders and writing things down. Our pens always seem to go missing when we need them. Sometimes the electricity goes out, and we just sit there talking until the power comes back. It isn't a fancy setup, just a practical place to get work done. We have a small window that looks out onto the main road, but the view is mostly just buses and rickshaws. The floor is made of tile that we sweep every morning before starting. We keep a calendar on the wall to track the days, though they often blur together. It’s a plain office where we focus on our tasks and watch the busy life of Kathua Road pass by.
