A L P School

You can find us in Bayar Perodi, which is a quiet spot in the Beripadavu area of Kasaragod. The school is not very big and we have been part of this village for quite some time now. The road leading to us is narrow and gets very dusty when it hasn't rained in a while. We have a well on the grounds that we use for all our water needs. It is actually older than the school building itself. During the monsoon, the humidity is very high and we often have to deal with the paint peeling off the walls. We just scrape it off and try to fix it when we have the time. The children walk here from the nearby houses and they always have their umbrellas ready for the rain or the sun. We have a few old wooden cupboards where we keep our books. There aren't hundreds of them, but the students read what we have. Our staff is small, just a few of us who handle everything from teaching the classes to fixing the broken furniture. We don't use any computers for our records; everything is written down in big green registers that we keep in the office. During lunch, we all sit under the trees if it isn't raining. It is a very basic way to run a school, but it works for the families here in 671121. We just focus on the daily work and keeping the place tidy.
