Down in Chovvery, Thrichirrapur, you will find us. We are tucked away in a corner of Kasaragod. It is usually pretty quiet around here until the classes start. Then you will hear the sound of the harmonium or someone practicing their footwork. We have a few rooms set up for different things. One room is mostly for the dance students. It has a smooth floor so they don't trip. Another space is where the music happens. It is not a big place. You might walk past it if you aren't looking closely. We started this because there wasn't much else for the kids to do nearby. On some evenings, the porch gets crowded with parents waiting for their children. They sit and talk while the music plays inside. The walls are thin, so you can hear everything. We have some old instruments that we keep tuned as well as we can. Dusting the shelves is a daily job. It gets humid here, so we have to watch out for the wooden equipment. Most of our students live just a short walk away. We don't have big signs or anything. Just the name on the front. It is a simple setup. We spend our hours showing people how to hold a note or follow a rhythm. It is a bit loud sometimes, but that is the point of a school like this. We just keep going day by day.
