Ivy Park Resort

Ivy Park Resort is tucked away in Kasargod, Kerala, specifically at the Vazhamplackal House in Plachickra. It’s a bit of a drive to get here, but that’s what people usually like about it. The address is quite long because it’s a family-run kind of place, and we use the house name for everything. Working here means you get used to the quiet very quickly. We spend a lot of our time managing the grounds and making sure the rooms are ready for whoever might show up. There are plenty of trees around, so we spend a lot of time sweeping up leaves and keeping the paths clear. The post office is in Plachickra, and we know the postman quite well since he comes by every day. We aren't a big chain hotel, so things are done a bit differently here. If a lightbulb goes out, one of us just grabs a ladder and fixes it. We don't have a big maintenance team on standby. The kitchen usually smells like whatever local spices are being used for lunch. Sometimes the power goes out when the winds get too high, and we have to scramble to get the generator going. It keeps us on our feet. It’s a lot of work to keep a resort running in this part of the world, but we enjoy the daily routine and the fresh air.
