We have our furniture shop, Artic Furniture, located right on NH 17 in Anangoor. It is a big warehouse-style building because furniture takes up a lot of room. We have beds, tables, and chairs lined up across the floor. Most of it is made of solid wood like teak or rosewood because that is what people around here like. The smell of sawdust and varnish is always in the air because we often do the final polishing right here in the back. It’s a family-run place and we don't have a big sales team. Usually, it’s just me or my brother walking around with customers to show them the different pieces. We don't use any fancy lighting to make things look better than they are. What you see on the floor is what you get. The highway outside is always loud with trucks passing by, but it makes it easy for our delivery van to get in and out. We carry the heavy wardrobes and sofas ourselves, so we stay pretty fit. Sometimes a customer wants a different color of polish, so we take the piece to the shed and change it for them. It’s honest work and we’ve been doing it for quite a few years now. We don't have a big catalog, people just come in and pick what they like from the floor. Anangoor is a good place for a shop like ours because people from all the nearby villages pass by on the highway.
