India Tex

India Tex is over in Karuvampalayam, right off the Mangalam Road in KVR Nager. Tiruppur is always noisy with the sound of machines and we’re right in the middle of it. Our unit is in the K R R Thotam area. We deal with fabrics and some stitching work, mostly orders that come through local contacts. It’s a dusty place sometimes because of all the lint from the cotton, but that’s just the textile life. We have a handful of sewing machines and a cutting table that’s seen better days. Some days we’re rushing to finish a load of t-shirts or shorts before the truck comes, and other days it’s a bit more relaxed. The power goes out occasionally, which is a pain, but we just wait it out or use the generator if we have to. We don't have a front desk or anyone to answer phones professionally, usually someone just yells across the room if a call comes in. Most of us have been working with cloth since we were young. It’s hard work on the back and eyes, but we've got a rhythm down. The address is a bit of a mouthful for people who aren’t from around here, but if you ask for the Thotam area, most people can point you our way. We’re just a small part of the big garment world here. It’s what pays the bills and keeps our hands busy.
