Winners Weaver

Winners Weaver is over at No. 5 on Palaniappa Street. We are near the Sengunthapuram Post office, which makes it easy to explain where we are to people. The sound of the machines is something you get used to after a while. It’s a rhythmic noise that fills the whole building from morning until evening. We have a few looms running, and there is always a bit of thread or lint floating in the air. We wear old clothes because things get messy. It isn’t a glamorous job, but we have been doing it for years. Some of the workers have been with us since we opened. We sit together during the breaks and talk about local news or family stuff. The building is a bit old and the stairs creak when you walk up them. We don't have a big sign outside, just the number 5 on the gate. Most of our customers know us by word of mouth anyway. We don't spend money on advertising or fancy brochures. We just focus on the weaving and making sure the patterns come out right. When the power goes off, we have to stop and wait, which is frustrating, but that’s just life in this area. We take pride in what we do, even if it is just simple daily work. Palaniappa Street is a busy place, and we are glad to be a small part of it.
