Goodwill Enterprises is tucked away at 53/1 in Sengunthapuram, right on the 6th Cross. We’ve been using P.B. No. 169 for our mail for as long as I can remember. The building is an older style, the kind that stays a bit cooler in the summer because of the thick walls. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is the smell of paper and old wood. We have stacks of files and boxes lining the hallway because there’s never quite enough storage space for everything we handle. It’s a small operation here, mostly just a handful of us making sure the logistics side of things doesn't fall apart. The 6th Cross is usually easy enough for parking, unless the neighbor is having a delivery. We spend a lot of time on the phone or writing out labels by hand at the big wooden desk in the front. There isn’t a fancy lobby or a receptionist to greet people, just whoever is closest to the door when it opens. We drink a lot of coffee from the shop around the corner to keep going through the afternoon. It is a simple way to make a living, and we’ve gotten quite comfortable with the routine of the neighborhood. Sometimes we forget how many years have passed since we first opened the doors here. The postman knows us by name now, and he usually stops for a quick chat when he drops off the mailbag in the morning.
